Beginner Canoe Class: The Art of Canoeing
Cost --$55 per person 2 hours
6 to 16 participant Ages--12 and up
This is an introduction to the art of canoeing! This class will teach students the basics of paddling a canoe at a fun and relaxed pace. Students will learn about canoes, paddles, pfd’s, equipment and clothing before being introduced to basic paddle strokes. Then students will launch their boats into the water for some paddle practice. This class is a wonderful way to try something new and gain confidence in paddling. All paddling equipment provided, dress for the weather.

Canoe Racing

Are you planning to race in the MR 340, Race to the Dome, or Bourbeuse Bluebell Canoe Race? This class is for paddlers that want to maximize their strokes! We will focus on stroke technique and paddling styles to help you get the most out of every one! Paddle and boat design, boat trim, and race training and preparation will be discussed. Please bring your PFD, paddle, and boat so we can help you with your specific concerns and needs. All paddling equipment will be provided for anyone that needs.

Canoeing: Level 1 - ACA Skills Course
Cost --$95 per person 8 hours
6 to 12 participant Age--14 and up
This is full in-depth day where participants will learn all they will need to know to get started in canoeing.We will be learning and practicing in a small lake and will cover types of canoes, paddles, equipment, and clothing.Paddling strokes, loading, carrying, safety, planning, boat capsizing, and canoe rescues will all be demonstrated.Participants will be required to swim, weather dependent, while in a personal floatation devices (PFD). This is a full day of fun and water time that provides participants with a broad understanding of canoeing and the skills to make it a fun adventure. This course will cover the majority of the BSA Canoeing Merit Badge as well. All paddling
Canoeing: Level 2 - ACA Skills Course
Cost --$95 per person 8 hours
6 to 12 participant Age--14 and up
This is the next step for participants to move forward with improving their canoeing abilities. This class is designed for participants that have some canoeing experience or have completed the ACA Level 1 Skills Class. We will be adding the challenge of moving water by paddling a few miles on the Meramec River. We will practice the special skills and boat techniques needed to navigate a canoe on moving water. This will open the door to paddling our amazing Ozark steams. Paddle strokes, boat maneuvering, river features, hazards, safety, rescue, and planning will all be covered. This is a super fun and educational day with lots of practice time on the water! Participants will receive a Level 2 ACA Skills Card of Achievement with the completion of this skills course.
